'Greed' to recruit Purdue studentsBy Kelly Lucas "Greed," the Fox game show, will be on campus Wednesday to recruit Purdue students. According to Pablo Malavenda, director of student activities and organizations for the Office of the Dean of Students, the game show is trying to put together a college tournament and wants to include Purdue. Malavenda said the "Greed" staff will be visiting Wisconsin on Thursday and IU on Friday as well. Malavenda said the game show may eventually want to do a Big Ten competition. The "Greed" staff will be administering qualifying quizzes to all interested students, once at 11 a.m. and again at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Stewart Center, Room 206. To be eligible, students must prove that they are Purdue students by showing their Purdue ID and driver's license, filling out an application and passing the qualifying quiz. Malavenda said everyone will get a chance to take the qualifying quiz. After the quiz, the "Greed" staff will correct the quizzes, and those who pass will be asked to stay for the second round of quizzes. The staff will then work with the remaining students and do more one-on-one group interaction to see if they will be prepared for the show. Malavenda said the "Greed" staff may choose up to four students from Purdue to participate in the game show. Each student will receive an all-expense paid trip to Hollywood and a chance to win $2 million. Malavenda said he is unaware at this time when the episode will air. The event is being held in cooperation with the Office of the Dean of Students and the Purdue Student Union Board. |
