Column unjustly stereotypes menThis is in response to Olivia Conroy's column about how men's sole purpose is to gawk at women for their entire lives. I would first like to thank Ms. Conroy for generalizing the entire male population so beautifully. It seems I don't have the same "relaxing" habits that you have with your friends. I don't often comment on how nice my friend's Docs go with his jeans, but maybe we're just resorting to our, as you put it, "barbaric ways." Furthermore, I've yet to meet a single woman who has put on a pair of black "booty" pants just because she was going over to a girlfriend's house just to relax and chill after a hard week of school. Don't get me wrong. I can understand there are times when women (and men) like to dress up just to look nice and get compliments from others. You make it sound as if every guy approaches a girl at parties or bars with the intention of hooking up with her later. Please don't generalize all of us by a false stereotype. That would leave the door open for me to generalize that all women in tight black pants aim to meet the "take me home" title that is often times associated with those pants; a generalization which is wrong and inappropriate. One last comment: if all you seem to be finding, Ms. Conroy, are these gawking men who continually stare at your "eyes," maybe you are looking in the wrong place and sending the wrong signals. It can't always be the guy's fault you know. The only reason I am so adamant about this issue is because I am tired of this behavior being viewed as a one-way street, and the men are always told they are going the wrong way.
