Riots add excitement to college lifeI see people running on the streets; I hear loud chants and slogans being chanted by these people; I feel the heat of the fire set by this crowd and I inevitably become a part of all this. No, this is not a review of the latest that Hollywood has to offer. In fact, this is the better part of college life disaster and excitement. What I'm writing about is evident to at least 3,000 readers (i.e. if that many read this section!) out on campus. The Boilers made us proud by defeating Gonzaga in a thrilling match on Thursday evening. Purdue rose to the Elite Eight position! There was no way that we were going to keep the zeal there. Therefore, a spontaneous decision was made by approximately 3,000 'Boilers' to celebrate this glorious victory. I was a minor part of this huge crowd and had the best time of my life executing my duties as a rioter. All was fun and peaceful until we were met by knights clad in black, shining armor. And they certainly weren't riding on horses! Instead, these friendly members of half the law enforcement agencies in this state opted to give us a cold shower and offered a smoke. Some students were so touched by this act of 'gratitude' that they burst (literally) into tears. I even saw a group of girls running into a sorority shouting out a word that sounded like 'beach.' And guess what- the firefighters and paramedics were part of this parade as well. With all this excitement, don't you (the ones who stayed home and locked their doors) feel sorry that you missed a great day out on campus with your fellow mates? I feel otherwise!
