extend hours for deadline

Most appointments
to file taxes are already taken in the Greater Lafayette area, but some
tax services are offering extended hours for those in a panic to meet
the midnight tonight deadline.
Employees at Jackson
Hewitt Tax Services, Richard Adair tax services and H&R Block said
there are still appointments available for last-minute tax filing today.
Carol Young, manager
of H & R Block on Union Street, said all five West Lafayette and Lafayette
locations will have extended hours today, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., for
last minute tax preparations. H & R Block is located in Lafayette
at 1402 Union St., 15 Executive Dr., 999 Creasy Lane and Sears at Tippecanoe
Mall, and in West Lafayette at 360 Brown St.
Young said H&R
Block uses electronic filing which speeds up the filing process with instant
acknowledgement from the Internal Revenue Service and eliminates manually
mailing the tax forms. Forms must be postmarked by midnight tonight.
Jackson Hewitt will
be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today but will be filing taxes until 5 p.m.
at the following locations in Lafayette: 2134 Sagamore Parkway and 600
Sagamore Parkway.
