Athletes fare well in California meetsThe Purdue women's track and field team competed in Southern California this weekend at the Mt. SAC relays, Pomona-Pitzer and Long Beach invitationals. Angela Craft provisionally qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the Pentathlon with her 10th-place finish at the Mt. SAC relays. The junior scored 5,270 points, the second best effort in her career. Senior Carri Long finished with her personal-best effort of 4,901 in the event. Pole vaulter Amy Spellmeyer finished second in the event at Mt. SAC, winning a jump-off at 12' 1" to place runner up. Ann Stechschulte provisionally qualified for NCAAs with her 13th-place time of 16:47.40 in the 5,000-meter run. At the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational, Teresa Kamleiter won the 3,000-meter run with a personal best time of 9:49.50; teammate Jessie Wilder was sixth at 10:11.03. Krissy Liphardt finished third in the 100-meter hurdles and 400-meter dash. |
