Student awaits charges for sending bomb threatBy Kelly Lucas Charges are pending against the student who sent an e-mail bomb threat to his chemistry class on March 22, according to Ron Fosnaugh, captain of special services at the Purdue University Police Department. After being questioned by police, Man Fai Chan, 25, a senior in the Schools of Engineering, admitted to sending the e-mail bomb threat to the 26 people in his CHEM 538, "Molecular Biochemistry," class. The threatened class was held in Wetherill Laboratory of Chemistry. "It is kind of disturbing because I would have thought something would have been done right away," said Heidi Cutter, a senior in the School of Science and a member of Chan's class. After sending the e-mail bomb threat, Chan sent an apology that same day. However, nobody has been apprehended in conjunction with the bomb threat to Grissom Hall on March 28. Fosnaugh said there is no indication that the bomb threat to Grissom Hall has any relation to the e-mail bomb threat made to Wetherill. Police evacuated Grissom after the building deputy received a phone call from a male who said that something was going to explode in Grissom. Fosnaugh said the Purdue police are offering a $5,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest and conviction of the person who made the threat to Grissom Hall. Anyone with information regarding the bomb threat at Grissom Hall should contact the Purdue Police Department at 494-8221. |
