From Staff Reports
Purdue police were
called to the Purdue Memorial Union Wednesday afternoon after a man demanded
money from a cashier.
Detective Capt. Steven
Dietrich said the incident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. when a white male
went to the check-cashing window on the main floor of the Union.
When the suspect
demanded money, the cashier left the window area, a co-worker called 911
and the suspect fled on foot. No money was given and no weapon was displayed.
Police searched the
area immediately after the incident but found no one matching the suspect's
description.
The victim said the
male was in his mid-20s, had a thin build, was about 6 feet tall and was
wearing a hooded blue sweatshirt.
Persons who may have
information on the attempted robbery are asked to contact the Purdue Police
Department at 494-8221.
