SSINFO allows records accessBy Brad Ramsay Student Services Information (SSINFO) is a feature incoming freshmen may become familiar with quickly at Purdue. Lee Gordon, director of student services computing, said SSINFO is a Web site that allows students to access the personal information that Purdue has on record for them. The personal information is locked unless students enter their career account login and password. Grades, class schedules and billing information are just a few of the features that one can view when looking at their SSINFO account. Some unprotected features available on SSINFO are tutor search, off-campus housing, master final exam schedules. Students also use SSINFO when voting for homecoming king and queen, and student body president, among other things. A survey feature is also available for students to give Purdue their opinions on a variety of subjects. SSINFO is going to have several updates coming out this summer that will be available July 24.. Gordon said the plans are to have a display of student fee information available along with their status. Students will be able to see what their status is with the University and if they are registered and paid in full. Another new feature will show students if their grades are encumbered and for what reason, said Gordon. Currently students can only see their grades one semester at a time, but they are changing that as well. Gordon said students will have their full grade history on-line which will be viewable through the grades function. One other major update SSINFO will be offering is the personal progress report. Students will be able to see their progression towards a degree, the courses they need to take and how many credits they have established, said Gordon. Along with a progress report, students will be able to explore other schools than the one in which they are currently enrolled with the "what-if" analysis. Gordon said the analysis feature will allow students to enter up to three different degree objectives and submit it to SSINFO. The next day, they will be able to see how many of their credits are transferable between the schools, which will make it easier for students to decide if they want to change their majors. |
