Football ticket sales increaseWith just under two months before the Purdue football team's first game on Sept 2, ticket sales in every area have made dramatic increases from this time last season. At this time last year, approximately 500 student season tickets had been sold. This year, the number is already at 9,000. The primary reason for this, according to Purdue Ticket Office manager George Ade, is that the student season ticket sales format was changed this year. As opposed to last year, students were encouraged to purchase football season tickets prior to departing the campus following the spring semester. The incentive for students doing this is a priority seating system that reserves seats for students on a first-order taken basis. An additional factor was the fact that last year students had plenty of time to order tickets after returning for the fall semester before the first Purdue home game on Sept 11. This year, the Boilers open the season at home on Sept 2 against Central Michigan, and with school starting on Aug 21, there's not as much time for ordering upon return to West Lafayette. General public season tickets have seen a dramatic increase as well. The total number of season tickets sold last season for the general public was 19,308. Sales so far this year are up 15 percent, with 22,134 tickets sold as of Wednesday. Ticket information questions can be directed to Purdue's Ticket Office at 1-800-497-7678.
