Purdue anticipates increased diversity

If Purdue prepares well, the University could poise itself to attract more minority students as minority enrollment surges in 2015.

College campuses will become noticeably more racially and ethnically diverse in the coming decades, according to a recent study by the Educational Testing Service.

The study, "Crossing the Great Divide: Can We Achieve Equity When Generation Y Goes to College?" projects the number of undergraduate students qualified to attend institutions of higher learning will increase by 19 percent — or 2.6 million students — by the year 2015.

Political ads sway unsure voters

Political commercials are flooding mass media outlets now, and one Purdue professor likens them to any other advertisement trying to sell a product.

Larry Smith, an associate professor in the communication department, said, "They play a major role in creating the identity of the campaign. They define who the players are, their values and what’s at stake."
