As a recent graduate of the
Krannert School of Management, I find it rather discouraging that students
at this University think there is a need for each individual to be given
a laptop "just like so many other schools."
I find it odd that the Oct.
23 article in the Exponent could only find two universities that give
laptops to their students. Besides, can you imagine all of the students
that would complain because of the increased tuition? "Why would
I want to pay an extra X amount of dollars for a laptop when I can go
to the computer lab for free?
Staying at the computer lab
all hours of the night only builds character and maturity; every student
should have this opportunity to grow, just like I did. Will there ever
a point in time when we can be satisfied with what we have instead of
coveting everything from everyone?
To paraphrase a well-known
songwriter, "You can't always get what you want, but if try sometimes,
you just might find, you get what you need."
