Computer glitch erases class schedulesDate error forces database to shut down temporarily
By Dave Stephens Students filled the bursar's and academic advisors' offices this morning due to computer problems over the weekend. "In Hovde, the line of students was pretty long," said Lee Gordon, director of student services computing, "longer than what's normal on the first day of classes." The lines were caused when a date error in the computing system caused about 800 students' schedules to be canceled. To correct the problem, Student Services Information, Purdue's database for class schedules and transcripts, was shut down from Friday morning until Sunday night. West Lafayette council elects new president
Heather Mangold West Lafayette city council member Patti O'Callaghan, D-3rd, was nominated and elected as the new council president for 2001 on Monday. Brad Windler, D-1st and outgoing president, nominated O'Callaghan.
"I'm really excited about (the position)," said O'Callaghan. "It's a great council; there are great administrators and great department heads to work with." Windler came to the council while still a student at Purdue. He was the first student to become president of the city council.
