Jischke appoints director

Purdue President Martin Jischke released the name of the new director of strategic planning and assessment Thursday, a new position Jischke created for Purdue.

Jischke named Rabindra Narayan Mukerjea, the current assistant to the president for budget planning and analysis at Iowa State University, into the position.

Assembly to discuss issues for year

Other legislators are considering desperate measures going into the tobacco settling money for general budget needs. Alting is not in favor of this use for the money.

"This was never the intention for that money," said Alting.
