Boilers place third
in invite at Kent State
The Purdue womens indoor track and field
team placed third Saturday at the Doug Raymond Invitational at Kent
State with a score of 158.
The host Golden Flashes won with a score of 174
and Penn State was second with a score 167.
"Our objective today was to come in and win," Purdue
coach Ben Paolillo said. "We gave it a good run, but were just short
of bodies. Todays performance was a little disappointing because
we didnt meet our goal, but we had some good results."
The womens distance medley team, composed
of Angela Anoliefoh, Jodi Kerklaan, Barbara Wenger and Jessie Wilder,
finished first with a time of 12:10.24.
Amy Spellmeyers jump of 12-7 1/2 was good
for a second place finish and a NCAA provisional mark in the pole vault.
Serene Ross was second in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 58-5
3/4, which was also a NCAA provisional mark.
Krissy Liphardt finished third in the 400-meter
dash with a time of 55.44. She placed fourth in the hurdles with a time
of 8.62. Theresa Kamleiters time of 10:10.69 was good for a third
place finish in the 3,000.
