ResNet routes have not changedI recently contacted PUCC's System Administrative Operational Manager and was told that they have not changed any of the routes for ResNet connections. He did mention something about Purdue recently signing a deal with a large unnamed company (rhymes with Microsoft) and switching its servers over from Linux to Windows 2000 servers. Apparently, that isn't the only reason that our connection speed is worse than AOL dialup. I was also tipped off by an individual in an organization, which I shall leave unnamed at this time (They've got their CLAW's into everything Computer Law Administrates of Washington) that a new experimental packet filtering and database package will be implemented for surveillance of Purdue's ResNet users. Well, guys, it looks like Pete isn't the only one with a new Big Brother. Adam Price Junior, Schools of Engineering |
