Journalist needs to do more researchThis letter is written in response to the article that appeared on the front page of the Exponent on Jan. 23 titled "Political shifts worry local organizations." In my opinion, the author needs to perform more research before writing an article that appears ill-informed and passes that information onto others. The author quotes Dinah Farrington, a public policy woman for Planned Parenthood, as having said that "Bush signed an executive order on Monday that would make it difficult for women to have abortions." The author is either very poorly informed or is promoting an agenda. The executive order to which Dinah Farrington was referring is one which forbids taxpayer dollars being used as foreign aid to organizations which promote and perform abortion abroad. It has no effect on abortion law in the United States. From the way it is written in the article, it sounds like it affects women in the United States. The author failed to report the complete story. If I had more room, I would continue. At best this is a poor piece of journalism. At worst, the author is a left-wing ideologue who spouts her opinion as fact and attempts to demonize the political right by allowing her sources to get away with ludicrous statements such as the above. The author should be ashamed by her lack of effort and intellectual dishonesty. Mike Dorwart
