Purdue needs more salt for sidewalks

If a student slips on ice and falls on a sidewalk, and no one is around to hear them, did that student ever really fall? That may just be a question left forever unanswered. Coming here to Purdue University, I was warned of the ice polishers of Purdue's grounds crew. Being from Northern Indiana, I was unafraid to face such things as a slippery sidewalk, however, I was ill prepared for what I have encountered.

Whether on a slope or straightaway, standing or walking, any Boilermaker can spin a tale of a wintertime meeting with an icy sidewalk of Purdue's West Lafayette campus. Now, I am not knocking the grounds crew. They do a great job all year long! Keep up the great work! However, can anyone think of a better way to rid our University of this slippery issue? I am not complaining, just trying to do a little problem solving. I may have one solution: give each student a personal supply of salt in which to sprinkle over the slippery sidewalks. This way all students could be involved in solving our dilemma. It could be a campus wide project! I guess if nothing ever happens we can all just reflect on an old Indiana saying, "if you don't like the weather, just wait five minutes and it'll probably change."

Good luck Boilermakers in coursing those slippery routes. May your feet be quick and your steps sound.
