Health services should help needyPlanned Parenthood is the largest abortion promoter in our country. Since every abortion takes the life of a human child and leaves a mother wounded, the argument that Planned Parenthood is a benevolent organization, as a Jan. 29 letter to the Exponent claimed, is illogical. In contrast to Planned Parenthood with its heinous agenda, there are many excellent resources for low-income families and college women in this community. Here are some examples. LifeCare Services (24-hour helpline 743-4488), just a block and a half from campus, offers among many others the following free services: pregnancy tests, crisis and long-term counseling, post-abortion recovery, maternal/health classes, clothing and furnishings, adoption referrals and referrals for medical care and legal assistance. Matrix Lifeline (742-1533) in Lafayette provides very similar services without charge. These organizations are truly dedicated to women and present an unconditionally loving and supportive environment during difficult times and long after. Two additional resources in Lafayette for low-income women are WIC (Women Infants & Children), which offers numerous services to women who are pregnant or have a child under 5, and the Community Heath Center, which has pregnancy testing, six doctors, a dentist, a social worker, urgent care, health referrals, programs for children with special needs, etc. A woman in need of any of these services should visit a place that will help, not harm her. Planned Parenthood does not care about you. It is concerned with promoting its agenda, based on lies about the human person and the family. If Planned Parenthood is such a "wonderful" organization, then why is it their business to encourage women to undergo something that will harm them physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually? (Please see www.afterabortion.com & www.projectrachel.com). Volunteers at places like Matrix and LifeCare are sincerely devoted to helping you in countless ways.
