Player pleads not guilty
From Staff Reports
A Purdue football player charged with two felonies
pled not guilty Friday in court.
Steve Ennis, a suspended sophomore running back
for the Boilers, appeared in Tippecanoe Superior Court Friday to answer
to charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury and criminal
recklessness inflicting serious bodily injury.
Ennis, who posted $10,000 bond, is scheduled to
return to court this Friday to be issued with a no contact order, which
disallows him to harass potential witnesses. After that, his next court
appearance will be March 23.
Ennis' charges stem from an incident that took
place around 3 a.m. Oct. 22 outside a State Street bar. Ennis, 21, is
accused of striking another student, Matt Alexander, during the altercation.
Alexander, a sophomore in the School of Liberal
Arts, suffered two fractures to his skull and massive brain trauma in
the incident. He said he has lost 40 percent of the hearing in his left
ear and 80 percent of his sense of taste.
