Coroner schedules student's
autopsy
From Staff Reports
An autopsy for the Purdue student who died over
the weekend is scheduled for today, according to Tippecanoe County Coroner
Martin Avolt.
Avolt said there were no preliminary findings for
Travis R. Simpson, a 19-year-old sophomore in the School of Technology
who died on Saturday.
Simpson was the fourth Purdue student to die in
the last two weeks. Laura M. Williams, 21, was found dead in her apartment
on Jan. 22. Toxicology reports that tested for illegal drugs and medications
that could be harmful in large doses found nothing definite; tests are
being conducted on her heart and lung tissue.
Four days after Williams died, Purdue students
Jacob Cushman, 20, and Matthew Cahill, 22, died in a car accident.
Visitation for Simpson will be held from 2 p.m.
until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main
St. in Russiaville, Ind.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday
at Stout & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens Cemetery in Kokomo, Ind.
People can make donations to the Travis R. Simpson
Scholarship Fund that will be set up at Northwestern High School.
