recognition for performances
Seniors Gyongyver Lakos of the womens swim
team and Jason Marshall of the mens tennis team have been named
the Purdue athletes of the month for January.
During the month of January, Lakos remained undefeated
in the 100 and 200 freestyle events for three weeks, beginning the season
with a 7-0 record. In a meet against Indiana, the last women's meet
in the history of Lambert Pool, Lakos set pool records with times of

her home country of Hungary, leads Purdue with top time in the 200 freestyle
(1:48.07).
Marshall captured the 2001 Big Ten Singles Championship
Jan. 15 to become Purdues first mens tennis player to win
the championship twice in his career. En route to the title, Marshall,
also the champion in 1999, beat Penn State's Jamie Gresh in the semifinals,
