Fan defends Boiler student section

"Purdue's basketball fans need to study Michigan State's." Paul Trembacki wrote a column saying how much better of fans Michigan State has over us (Tuesday).

Well, Paul, we are not Michigan State and we will never be. We are Purdue University, and I will not copy another university. So their fans are louder. They also have respect; respect from administration who give them good seats. I don't know which came first, the good seats or the good fans, but I think that the two go hand-in-hand. Until our student section includes good seats, we will never be like Duke or MSU. I haven't seen one student who is as "apathetic" as the alumni who get the front row.

Now, Paul, I think you're a hypocrite because you seem to be doing a lot of talking the talk, but when I look down at the press table, I don't see you walking the walk. A friend of mine and I have been trying to get some guys together to go bare chested to the Illinois game this weekend (long before Paul's "motivational" article). I will be at the game topless and I dare others to do the same. This is not a football game and it is ridiculous to pretend it is. This is Purdue Basketball and I have a good time at the games.

To the student fans: Don't listen to Paul, he's full of it. We are not MSU, no, we are better, we're Purdue. Go to the games, have a good time and show your "Purdue Pride." Maybe, just maybe, if we show how spirited we are, we can get those lazy alumni kicked out and get some good seats for next year.
