Water polo team finishes
second in tournament
The Purdue women's water polo team garnered a second-place
finish in a tournament at Notre Dame this weekend.
The No. 18 Boilers (7-7, 5-4 Big Ten) beat Illinois
7-6 after beating Northwestern 7-4 and Grand Valley State 12-4 before
falling 9-8 in triple overtime against Notre Dame in the championship
game.
Purdue's leaders in goals scored included Dena
Lucchesi, a junior in the School of Technology, who had six, and Megan
Greenya, a junior in the School of Liberal Arts, who had five.
The Boilers' leaders in assists included Kim Hawkins,
a sophomore in the School of Liberal Arts, who had five, and Greenya,
who had four.
The Boilers' leaders in steals were Heidi Boehm,
a freshman in the School of Health Sciences, who had 13; Hawkins, who
had nine; and Julia Nickels, a senior in the School of Management, who
had six.
Boehm, also the team's goalie, leads Purdue in
saves for the season with 37.
The team will host a tournament Saturday and Sunday
