Students should receive better seatsAn open letter to athletic director Morgan Burke, inspired by the column on the Exponent sports page on Feb. 6: Mr. Burke, it is time for you to recognize that this institution is here for the students. While I understand the importance of the John Purdue Club, and the contributions they have made to further the reputation of this University, it is ludicrous to think that their contributions are worth 15 of the 17 lower-level seats in Mackey Arena. I cannot believe that there are that many JPC members who contribute at a level that should give them seats like that. Just double the seats for student season ticket holders. Sit us on both sides of the tunnel. If you want atmosphere, you can't try with "new traditions" as you did in Ross-Ade. No, give us seats where our enthusiasm can be useful; if you want a good student section, treat students as though you see them as more than just JPC members in training.
