Critique leads to personal attackI am writing in response to the article written by Adam Price on Feb. 13th critiquing my critique of the movie "Save the Last Dance," specifically concerning the unnecessary slam on Greek life in general and the Wabash Yacht Club. Hello, is this getting personal? When I wrote my letter, I was referring to the racial and ethnic segregation, and Mr. Price turned this around to be a Greek/non-Greek argument. Funny, I never mentioned my living accommodations. Thank you, Mr. Price, for making my point even clearer. We do feel segregated. You suggest visiting specific establishments where I might "see how integrated Purdue has become," but I remind you that if segregation is not a problem, then I should be able to experience what you call "integration" at any Purdue establishment. I shouldn't have to leave "the confinements of my lifestyle" to experience integration. I realize that Mr. Price's article was a personal attack on me and an attack on the entire Greek system as a whole, but anyone who visits these mentioned establishments, such as the Wabash Yacht Club, Where Else, the Boiler Room, or even the corner coffee shop, should be offended. If nothing else, Mr. Price (or whomever else was behind his article) this is the opinions section, you may have mistaken it for the personals. Jenni Conner Senior, School of Liberal Arts |
