Union food displays waste money

In response to the Exponent’s Feb. 16 article about the high price of food at the Purdue Memorial Union, one thought plagues me each day I eat at the Union ... would it not be more cost-effective for the food service to cease making the "show plates" which they display at almost every food station almost every day?

Granted, these displays demonstrate how appetizing the Union's food can be, but it is a pitiful waste of valuable food. It surely can't be cost-effective for the Union either. Let the cost-cutting practices begin with a common sense approach — stop wasting good food for "show" purposes.
