| PSG fails to represent all students How many of you know your senators in Purdue Student Government? Do you know what PSG is doing for you? Ask yourself. Ask your friends. More times than not, you will hear the word "No." PSG has a serious problem. Its constituency has no faith in it. Students do not feel they are represented, especially if they live off-campus. For a moment last year, PSG and the administration appeared to address the issue. The administration granted your PSG an additional $25,000 in their budget so long as it created an Internal Review Committee. This IRC has worked hard over the past six months in an attempt to recognize the fundamental problems in PSG and to propose solutions. Sunday it was to report to the senate body. Those who were looking for a glimmer of reason in PSG were once again disappointed. The senate body did not even accept a report from the IRC. It did not accept this $25,000 report for consideration. You should be outraged! This capricious dismissal only exemplifies the fatal flaw that IRC attempted to address. There is a general lack of accountability amongst senators. They are currently selected under a housing-based system. Unfortunately, this system provides many senators with no accountability. IRC attempted to address this issue in the meeting Wednesday but was summarily shot down. If you believe that PSG should at least consider proposals to address its flaws, I encourage you to support a student referendum to do so. You deserve to get something for your $25,000 investment.
