Sports receive too much emphasis

This letter is regarding Mr. Swisher's letter on March 20. I'm taking your letter as a humorous one, because, if it isn't, I don't mean to hurt you with my statements.

Dale Earnhardt was a great man, but, well how shall I put this lightly? Dude, he drove a really fast car around a track really fast! (A new Bushism) That's it. That is what he is hailed for. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is what NASCAR people do. They drive really fast for a few hours and sometimes they win, which Mr. Earnhardt did quite a bit of, from what I am told.

We emphasize sports too much in today's society. In regards to basketball, to quote Red Auerbach, "All you are trying to do is take a round ball and stick it in a hole more times than the other guy." That's it. End of story. Baseball — hit a ball with a stick and run. Hockey — put a puck in a net with a stick/club. Cricket — what the hell is cricket? Isn't it a bug that makes noise? Anyway, I watch sports just as much as the next humanoid, but my life doesn't revolve around sports. Life should revolve around life. Oh yeah, to you hard core Democrats, Bush won, get over it with the recounts. The great Chad has spoken. Something else, abortion kills children. Yes, unborn children are children, no matter how the press/politicians try to sugarcoat that fact with "choice" and "women's reproductive freedom." I know that the Supreme Court legalized abortion back in 1973, but that doesn't make it right. Remember, the Supreme Court also legalized slavery. Did that make slavery right? And to my wife, shmily.
