Reader disagrees with editorial
staff
The other day I picked up an Exponent off
a residence hall floor. I should have left it there. The editorial headline
read "Bush Should Think Before Bombing Iraq." This letter
is to express my disagreement with the "Editorial Staff."
First, Iraqis thought our nation was vulnerable
as a new commander-in-chief took office, so they chose to enter a no
fly zone. They were testing us. If a person tries to push you around,
you push back. That is, of course, if you are a bunch of cowards from
the press. Then its OK to run away. Second, the bombing was not
to harm lives, but to make a statement. We dont want to start
another "conflict" with another country, so that "40
percent" you refer to was adequate. So next time you want to chastise
the leader of our nation, think about if you were in the same position.
And the country you were leading was being tested. Would you really
act like a bunch of peace-loving sitting duck editorial staffers with
no respect for the military forces of their country? I think not. You,
like many, would take their freedom for granted.
One more thing, the men and the women of the United
States military get all too little respect nowadays. So instead of bashing
their "effectiveness," put down that all too important editorial
youre writing, and think about what you say. Dont put it
down too long though, because its important to all of us that
we get our dose of opinions. Put away your ignorant feelings, and think
about the men and women fighting away from their families and home,
So you can print anything you want about them in your nice little opinions
page.
