The Purdue Research Foundation will have an interim senior vice president effective July 1.
President Martin Jischke named Michelle White, the assistant treasury and assistant secretary of the foundation, as the interim senior vice president.
"I'll manage the entire foundation and carry out our mission of serving Purdue University," said White.
She will replace Jeffrey Wilson, who is retiring after 36 years of service to the University and the foundation.
Joe Bennett, vice president of University relations, said White was chosen because she has an excellent record and is knowledgeable of the foundation.
"She is a good choice to serve as we search for a new vice president," he said.
As vice president, White will oversee the entire accounting structure for the foundation and will run the everyday operations of it.
White is a 1986 graduate of St. Josephs College in Rensselaer, Ind., and has previously worked as a senior accountant for the firm Coopers and Lybrand.
She began as a staff accountant for the foundation in 1990 and was promoted to senior accountant in 1994. She was promoted to her current position in 1996.
White also serves as the treasurer for the Purdue Foundation, Ross-Ade Foundation, the Indiana-Purdue Foundation at Fort Wayne and the Purdue Alumni Foundation. She said she will continue with those duties while she works as the vice president.
She has also served as assistant treasurer and adviser for the Purdue Student Housing Corp.
Jischke said he plans to appoint a committee that will conduct a national search for a permanent replacement for the position. Whoever fills the position on a permanent basis will start later this year.
