Traffic study to investigate expansion possibilities

From Staff Reports

Within the next two to three months, a traffic study will be conducted in order to make changes in compliance with the expansion of West Lafayette's City Hall.

The study will look at the possible relocation of Navajo Street and the possible expansion of City Hall's parking lot. There is also the possibility that a new street will be added that could connect Navajo Street to State Road 52.

"This could be the solution to improving traffic flow," said Steven Hardesty, branch manager of Bernardin—Lochmueller and Associates, Inc., the company that will conduct the study.

Hardesty said that there is heavy traffic congestion on Salisbury Street and along State Road 52. He said the traffic study might help to improve the congestion as well as the difficulty of entering and exiting business along State Road 52.

Josh Andrew, director of West Lafayette's Department of Development said that the cost of the study was estimated at $64,000 at the West Lafayette Board of Works meeting on Tuesday.
