Comic misrepresents social problemAs I was browsing through the Exponent on March 28, I happened upon the opinions page. Usually, the comics printed on this page are of good taste; however, the comic printed that day was nowhere near tasteful. The comic illustrated two school-aged children watching a television broadcast of another school shooting. Then, one student said to the other, "Hey, you want to be on TV?" I would just like to ask whomever thought to create this comic, what were you thinking? School shootings are a tragic and all-too-often occurrence in this country, and I do not feel that anyone should be adding to the event that frequently horrifies and murders this country's youth. School should be a safe place to go, and children should not fear for their lives while trying to learn quadratic equations and chemistry formulas. If the kids in the comic really want to be on TV, help them get into a good broadcast journalism school don't encourage them to follow the horrific trend of murder within our school walls.
