Driver’s death brings sadness, faith

Although I am not a student at Purdue, my daughter is. I, too, was saddened by the loss of Dale Earnhardt. If anything, his passing made my belief in God that much stronger for reasons I cannot even explain to myself.

No, Dale was not God, nor did he ever claim to be. He was a good man — a hero to many, myself included.

I will miss him greatly and still shed tears quite often, but I also still watch NASCAR and admire those drivers giving us the best entertainment there is. And no, I'm not a redneck. You don't have to be a redneck to enjoy a sport.

Everyone is entitled to their beliefs, don't belittle the ones who are secure enough to express their love for the sport and the man.
