Revelries ruin campus for everyone

I am writing to commend the police department and the way it handled the riots last weekend.

When reading Eric Fobes' comment (Exponent, April 2) on how he was disappointed that the police used tear gas because it sucks when you get gassed. I just want to say, "You should have dispersed when they told you." Granted we were out in with the crowd and we did get tear gassed, but I'm not going to complain.

The police used total control. In fact I would have liked to see some of the lawless heathens that think rioting means you have to break windows and destroy public property beat to a bloody pulp by the police or at the very least arrested. When you riot, starting peaceful bonfires is one thing — you only destroy your possessions. But when you break campus windows, knock over street signs and turn over cars you just wreck the campus for everyone else. No wonder why the police don't give the students slack; if we had more freedom we'd just abuse it.

I think it's funny that the same people who are going to complain when Purdue has to raise tuition to cover the costs of damages incurred, are the same ones who caused the damage. I can't wait to hear what all the smelly, tree-hugging, more-human-rights-wanting losers in the School of Liberal Arts have to say about this. How can we be given more rights when we act like this? I say if we want to act like 3-year-olds then we should be treated like 3-year-olds. If all you rioters have this much spirit, why don’t any of you attend the actual games?
