Board of Trustees grants
promotions
From Staff Reports
After 30 years of service to Purdue, Carolyn Jones,
associate executive vice president for academic affairs, will retire
at the end of August.
Jones was granted emeritus status at Friday's Board
of Trustees meeting.
At the meeting, the trustees also promoted a number
of faculty members. 41 people were promoted from associate professor
to professor, 45 were promoted from assistant to associate professor,
seven were promoted from instructor to assistant professor, one was
named an adjunct professor, one was named a clinical professor and three
were named clinical associate professors.
Andrés Vargas was given a posthumous degree
of doctor of philosophy by the trustees. Vargas died after completing
the majority of the steps required for his doctoral thesis and needed
only one more course from his approved plan of study.
