Tennis team loses by five

The seventh-ranked Notre Dame women's tennis swept the doubles matches and won four singles matches in straight sets to beat Purdue 6-1 Wednesday in Notre Dame, Ind.

It was the 12th straight time Notre Dame (20-4) beat Purdue (3-13).

Purdue's Gretchen Haynor, at No. 3, defeated Notre Dame's Nina Vaughan 6-7, 6-3, 1-0 (18-16) for Purdue's only win. Vaughan saved seven match points in the match tiebreaker and Haynor saved three.

All-American Michelle Dasso set a Notre Dame school record with her 102nd career doubles win. Dasso also owns school records for singles victories (133) and combined singles and doubles wins (234).

Purdue has four matches left before the Big Ten Championships.
