The Purdue men’s golf team placed sixth out of 17 teams last weekend at the Kepler Intercollegiate on Ohio State’s Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.

The Boilermakers finished with a three-round total of 599, 10 strokes behind champion Michigan, in what proved to be a very tight competition. Lee Williamson led the way with a three-round score of 220, just eight strokes behind the overall leader, tying Michigan’s Andrew Matthews for third place. Williamson shot a three-over par 74 for the third round and finished third overall.

Chris Mayson finished at 227, shooting 76 for the final round. Peter Karmis shot a 78 to finish at 229 while the freshman Shiv Kapur shot a 76, tying his first round score. Jason Bukowski finished with an 86. Kapur and Karmis tied for 30th overall while Bukowski tied for 74th.

Purdue also finished ahead of Big Ten rivals Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois while also placing ahead of in-state rivals Notre Dame, Ball State and Indiana.
