Golf team clubs Big
Ten rivals
The Purdue mens golf team placed sixth out
of 17 teams last weekend at the Kepler Intercollegiate on Ohio States
Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio.
The Boilermakers finished with a three-round total
of 599, 10 strokes behind champion Michigan, in what proved to be a
very tight competition. Lee Williamson led the way with a three-round
score of 220, just eight strokes behind the overall leader, tying Michigans
Andrew Matthews for third place. Williamson shot a three-over par 74
for the third round and finished third overall.
Chris Mayson finished at 227, shooting 76 for the
final round. Peter Karmis shot a 78 to finish at 229 while the freshman
Shiv Kapur shot a 76, tying his first round score. Jason Bukowski finished
with an 86. Kapur and Karmis tied for 30th overall while Bukowski tied
for 74th.
Purdue also finished ahead of Big Ten rivals Wisconsin,
Iowa and Illinois while also placing ahead of in-state rivals Notre
Dame, Ball State and Indiana.
