Ceremony to honor deceased
students
Fraternity, bands to commemorate
students tonight
A ceremony to honor the Purdue students who died
during this semester will take place at 9:30 tonight at the Purdue Bell
Tower.
The Golden Taps ceremony, which has been held since
the mid-1990's, honors the students with memorial cards.
The Purdue Bands and the Tau Beta Sigma band fraternity
sponsor the event. Drummers and buglers will go from the Elliott Hall
of Music to the base of the bell tower. The bell will toll once for
each student being honored and, after a moment of silence, Echo Taps
will be played.
The students to be commemorated include: Matthew
Troy Cahill, a senior in the Schools of Engineering; Jacob Charles Cushman,
a sophomore in the School of Liberal Arts; Kristine Lynn Noonan, a senior
in the School of Management; Travis Randall Simpson, a sophomore in
the School of Technology; Matthew Stachowiak, a sophomore in the School
of Liberal Arts; Loren Whisler, a non-degree student in the School of
Technology; and Laura Marie Williams, a junior in the School of Consumer
and Family Sciences.
