Demonstrations cause awareness

This is to the student that was upset about seeing the crosses at Memorial Mall that represented abortions. Abortion is a sensitive subject and it is important that students are aware of all aspects of it. The group that organized that demonstration wasn't trying to force people to have the same beliefs as themselves. They just presented the statistical facts of the occurrences of abortions in a more visible and dramatic way. Every group or student on campus should be permitted the freedom to express their beliefs. This doesn't require anyone to agree with or support their attitudes. It does, however, expose people to views and beliefs that they may not have otherwise been knowledgeable about. That is the point of going to college, to learn new things. Some of those things you won't like, but at least you are aware of them.
