Maria Lewis/ Exponent Photographer HOLEY MACKERAL: This is the future site of the Krannert addition, which will be located at the corner of Grant and State Streets. Construction of the 70,000 square foot building will begin in August and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2003. |
Construction vehicles havent begun cluttering the barren lot at the corner of Grant and State streets where the addition to the Krannert Building will be built.
Construction of the new building, which will eventually be connected to Krannert by a walkway over Grant Street, is on schedule, according to Richard Cosier, dean of the School of Management.
"The actual construction should begin in August 2001," said Cosier.
Anyone can watch the construction through a Web browser at http://www.mgmt.purdue.edu/info/camera1/. A Web cam located in Krannert transmits live images of the construction site every 10 seconds to the Web page.
The new building will be 70,000 square feet and will increase space available to the career services, classrooms, technology laboratories and meeting rooms that are currently in Krannert. The majority of the space will be used for classrooms.
"We are on schedule to open the new building in fall 2003," said Cosier.
The expansion will be called the Jerry S. Rawls Hall and will cost approximately $32 million.
"Jerry, MSIA '68, donated $10 million in one payment for the new building," said Cosier.
According to Cosier, all the funds have been raised to pay for the expansion, assuming that pledges are paid.
More information about the expansion, including a virtual tour, can be found at http://www.mgmt.purdue.edu/departments/development/frontier/.
