To celebrate its recent renovation, the Purdue
West Shopping Center is holding a "Renovation Celebration and Sale."
The celebration will take place from 5 p.m. to
9 p.m. Friday at the shopping center located at 1400 W. State St.
Eric Bymaster, assistant director of real estate
for the Purdue Research Foundation that manages the shopping center,
said the renovations were done after the addition of the north side
building, which includes Pizza Hut, to make the facades of the other
buildings look like the new building. The renovation to the south side
was started after renovations to the east side were complete.
The south side of the complex includes Follett's
Book Store, Baskin Robbins Ice Cream and Yogurt and the Thriftway.
"They were the only (three) left that didn't look
like the rest so we decided to (renovate) last summer. We finally finished
everything up and put on some finishing touches," said Bymaster.
A diamond-shaped outdoor atrium with benches was
also constructed between the Baskin Robbins and Thriftway.
The carnival-themed celebration will offer inflatable
games, several items at discounted prices and giveaways from the merchants
located in the center.
"We've done the major renovations so we wanted
to throw a little carnival to welcome all our customers to take a look
at the new Purdue West Shopping Center," said Jeff Gulick, director
of Follett's Purdue West Bookstore.
The radio station 95.7 "The Rocket" will broadcast
live from the complex.
