Improv comedy group to perform at museum’s Fusion Friday event

From wine tasting to salsa parties, the Greater Lafayette Museum of Art offers a variety of different activities for the community to explore during its Fusion Friday events.

Presented on the last Friday of every month, this month’s Fusion Friday offers Lafayette comedy in the form of the improv group Crazy Monkeys. The Greater Lafayette Museum of Art in Lafayette will be open from 8-10 tonight.

Considering the assortment of themes for Fusion Fridays, the event is said to appeal to a diverse crowd, from college students to middle-aged community members.

Included in this month's Fusion Friday will be free food from Jane's Deli, a free coffee bar from Java Roaster, an alcohol cash bar from Sgt. Preston's and a performance by Crazy Monkeys, who perform improvisational humor much like that of the television show, "Who's Line is it Anyway?"

This will not be Crazy Monkeys' first appearance at the art museum, however; the group was also a popular feature three years ago.

"It's a fun challenge," said Amy Piskorowski, a senior in the School of Engineering and leader of the group.

The Crazy Monkeys is continuously performing completely new shows, often relying on suggestions from the audience. Made up of Purdue students, the group even picked its name after asking a waitress in a local bar.

"They were just hilarious," said Kate O'Brien, membership and special events coordinator for the museum.

Along with food, drinks and entertainment, guests are welcome to tour the museum and enjoy the exhibits.

One of the displays O'Brien recommends admiring is the "New Artists" exhibit, which is made up of art created by high school students. "Their talent is just fabulous," she said.

· Tickets for Fusion Friday are $5 for members of the art museum and $7 for non-members.
