In the past, the May graduates from the School of Technology usually all fit on one side of the Elliott Hall of Music.

This year, however, the school's graduates will be sitting in both sides of the music hall.

This May, more students are graduating then ever before and the school is actually going to start controlling enrollment because Don Gentry, dean of the School of Technology, said it has probably topped out.

Gentry said the number of graduates has increased, mainly because the School of Technology is getting more transfer students from other schools on campus.

The School of Technology is graduating 920 students this May, more than any other school. Gentry said the 920 graduates is a combination the bachelor's of science degrees and the associate degrees.

"The School of Technology always has the largest senior class on campus," said Gentry.

He said, though, that the Schools of Engineering will give out more bachelor's degrees.

Larry Huggins, associate dean of the Schools of Engineering, said the number of graduates this May is not significantly different from years past. "We have for 25 years been operating under a capped enrollment," said Huggins.

He said the 720 graduates from the Schools of Engineering are of the magnitude of most May commencements.

Huggins said the engineering graduates are going into a strong job market, despite the news that says otherwise. He said this reflects favorably on Purdue grads and how well its graduates do in industrial settings.

In total, 5,355 students will graduate from Purdue's West Lafayette campus this weekend, and 3,975 of them are undergraduates. The following is a list of the number of undergraduates graduating from each school.

• 920 from the School of Technology

• 720 from the Schools of Engineering

• 700 from the School of Liberal Arts

• 390 from the School of Management

• 375 from the School of Agriculture

• 290 from the School of Science

• 250 from the School of Consumer and Family Sciences

• 170 from the Schools of Pharmacy, Nursing and Health Sciences

• 160 from the School of Education

Also, 1,200 students will graduate from the Graduate School and 180 students will receive professional degrees — 70 from the School of Veterinary Medicine and 110 from the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacal Sciences.
