teams, playing in windy and rainy conditions paid off for the Purdue
men's golf team, as they qualified for the NCAA Championships with a
first place finish at the NCAA Central Regional held in Stillwater,
Okla.
The Boilermakers finished competition Saturday,
and after a third-round total of 293 to match their second-round total,
it was good enough for first-place, tying Kent State and Oklahoma. The
Boilermakers now advance to the NCAA Championships in two weeks, which
will be hosted at Duke University.
"You have to give Chris Mayson a lot of credit,
bouncing back today with a 69 after shooting an 83 for the second round,"
head coach Devon Brouse said after play concluded. "We're really looking
forward to moving on and competing for the national championship."
The Boilermakers matched their second round score
with a 293, finishing with a three-round total of 883. Lee Williamson,

in round three. He finished tied for fifth overall with a score of 216.
Peter Karmis also finished in the top 20, shooting a 76 for the third
round and giving him a three-round total of 219. Chris Mayson, who bounced
back from his second-round score as coach Brouse indicated, really sparked
