Boilermakers in 18th place
following third round at NCAAs

Following the third round of the NCAA Women's Golf
Tournament on Thursday, Purdue sophomore Kari Damron found herself in
an unfamiliar position while competing with a familiar face.
Although Damron, who won the NCAA Regional Tournament
at Purdue's Kampen Course, is tied for 52nd place, she is tied with
Stacy Prammanasudh of Tulsa.
This is the same Prammanasudh, whose team won the
Purdue-hosted regional that saw the Boilermakers take second, who led
most of the regional competition.
Damron, however, is focused more on where the Boilers
need to be as a team, especially with the final round beginning this
morning.
"It's kind of disappointing because we thought
we could come in here and prove ourselves," said Damron, who after three
rounds is 12-over-par. "We knew we had a chance going into the tournament
that we could win, but we didn't play well the first three rounds."
Damron and her teammates are in 18th place after
three completed rounds and because Tulsa, who is in a tie for eighth
place, is near the top of the leaderboard, she said she feels the Boilermakers
should be contending as well.
Now, with the final day of the last tournament
of the season and the Boilermakers 51 strokes behind first-place Duke,
Damron said the Boilers have to be realistic.
"We could break into the top 10 or top 15," said
Damron. "This is our last tournament of the season, so we want to kind
of go out without a bang and play well and end the season on a positive
note."
Purdue's Andrea Makauskas (+22) is the first
Boilermaker out of the tee box at 10:50 a.m. this morning. Makauskas
is followed by teammates Beth Hermes (+17) at 11:00 a.m., Caroline Laurens
(+16) at 11:10 a.m., Heather Zielinski (+15) at 11:20 a.m., Damron at
11:30 a.m.
