Campus restaurants offer variety of eating venues

Around Purdue's campus there are many different types of restaurants, each offering a variety of food.

One such place is Triple XXX, which has been noted as one of Indiana's best restaurants.

Named after an early brand of root beer, Triple XXX offers family dining. "(It's a) very personable atmosphere, very friendly," said Greg Ehresman, owner of Triple XXX.

Known for it's handmade, 100 percent ground sirloin hamburgers, Triple XXX offers a variety of sandwiches and tenderloins along with fountain drinks and hand-dipped ice cream. The restaurant is also open for breakfast.

"This is real food, this is not a cheap imitation," Ehresman said.

Triple XXX is open 24 hours, excluding Sundays.

Jake's is another restaurant that holds as a popular place for lunch, said Erik Balser, manager.

Offering sandwiches and pizzas, Jake's is open to people of all ages until 9 p.m., after that it becomes a bar and is only open to customers 21 or older.

Jake's has a comfortable, laid back atmosphere, Ehresman said.

Among the restaurants around Purdue are a variety of international eateries, such as Bombay Express.

Bombay Express offers a wide selection of authentic Indian food, such as vegetable karma and spinach and cheese.

Guests at Bombay Express have the option of ordering carryout or dinning in at the lunch or dinner buffets.

"(It's) fast food as well as a restaurant," said Britto Rodrigues, chief.

In addition to Triple XXX, Jake's and Bombay Express there are many other diners, Chinese buffets, bars and pizza restaurants on campus.
