Teresa Clemans and her husband got their 1947 Chevy pick-up truck for $500, but after fixing it up they got it into displaying condition and registered it in last year's Kossuth Street Fun Fest car show.
This year's Kossuth Street Fun Fest will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at 29th and Kossuth streets in Lafayette on the lawn of the Kossuth Street Baptist Church.
Last year the car show contained 67 cars, said Jim Koerber, associate pastor of the church.
"It was an awesome car show," Clemans said.
The car show will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday highlighting classic, antique and muscle cars. For those people interested in entering the car show this year, all they need to do is show up and register that evening in the parking lot.
In addition to the car show, events scheduled for Friday include a pork barbecue dinner from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., which will cost $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 10. In addition to barbecue sandwiches guests will also receive baked beans, applesauce or coleslaw, a cookie and a drink.
Saturday's events will consist of an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., which will cost $2.50 for adults and $1 for children under 10. Aside from pancakes, the breakfast will also offer orange juice, coffee or milk and sausage or bacon.
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. the festival will be held. Included in the festival will be free children's carnival games, face painting, popcorn, snow cones and cotton candy.
"(It's) just to have a good time," Koerber said.
In addition to games and food there will also be demonstrations from master glassblower John Pirolo, a DARE car presentation and a K-9 police dog show at 3 p.m.
From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday evening guests may enjoy a pork and chicken barbecue supper and homemade pies for $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 10. During dinner, guests may listen to free bluegrass music from Birch Creek from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
"It's just kind of like having the picnic in our backyard," Koerber said.
