Fountain: Tear it down or turn it on

The great minds working on making the fountain safe are exactly the kind of minds that should have nothing to do with Purdue University. They're a disgrace and an embarrassment. What next, put the whole campus under a dome with little tubes for the students to get to class like gerbils? Leave it alone. The point of the fountain is aesthetics, if you're going to destroy the aesthetic value, tear it down. The fountain serves no other purpose. If we have no faith in those we proclaim as our future, then why do we look toward the future in the first place? Exactly how many people have been hurt that dictate such extreme measures? Surely not as many as have been hurt driving around campus in cars. Shall we do away with those too as we can't trust students to use their turn signals? Everyone involved with this joke needs to go find something worthwhile to do with their time. When I stop by for homecoming, If that fountain isn't running as it was when I was in school, I had better see a large sign that says... "Your new fountain, brought to you by the brilliant minds that decided to polish the ice rather than plow the snow". Surely more people are hurt more severely every year because of that great idea. Shall all the students be required to take "Removal of legs and replacing them with wheels 101" this fall? Give me a break.
