Purdue forward Shalica Hurns' summer trip to Europe isn't going to happen, for her at least.
On Tuesday, Purdue women's basketball coach Kristy Curry suspended Hurns from the team indefinitely and withdrew her from the Big Ten Foreign Tour Team after Hurns was issued two alcohol related citations last weekend.
Curry's decision for punishment for the sophomore costs Hurns the opportunity to play on a team that would tour Switzerland and France next month.
"Shalicia has to take some time to get a number of issues in order, and we will try to help her do that," Curry said in a statement. "She has to decide whether or not she can make the continued commitment to be a part of this program."
According to police, Hurns was spotted entering the Boiler Room last weekend by a West Lafayette police officer.
Hurns, 19, was issued two citations early Saturday morning on charges of illegal consumption of alcohol and being a minor in a tavern.
Hurns, a 6-foot-3 forward from Indianapolis, Ind., led the NCAA runner-up Boilers with 6.6 rebounds per game last season. In addition, Hurns averaged 9.3 points per game for Purdue, the 2001 Big Ten Champions.
Curry had no further comment on the situation and Hurns could not be reached for comment.
