Alleged reveler to ask for trial relocation to escape prejudiceBy Kurt Esposito A motion hearing for a change of venue for one of the students charged in the April 1 disturbances will take place today. Everett L. Owen is charged with the manufacture of explosive or inflammable substance. Owen's attorney, Linda Wagoner, is seeking to move the case out of Tippecanoe County. She said the media attention given to the disturbances have created a "lynch mob atmosphere" in the county against anyone alleged to have participated in the illegal acts that occurred during the revelries. She said the atmosphere is too prejudicial and will not allow a fair trial for her client. She also said the infamous police Web site featuring photos of students alleged to have participated in criminal acts during the revelries added to the prejudicial atmosphere. Overwhelming. A word consistently used by the newest Board of Trustees member, Anna Day, to describe her first days as a student trustee. After prompting from School of Agriculture associate dean Karl Brandt, Day, a senior in the School of Agriculture, applied for the position in January. After interviews in February and in May she found out about her new position not expecting to on July 2 and had only a few days to prepare for her first meeting that Thursday.
